With an acknowledgment of my own naive approach to art making I want to explore the innocence and purity that such an approach conveys as well as it being a sincere and direct way to communicate. My process simultaneously is mastered by and shuns planning, and I want to explore further contradictions in myself that engage me in the profundity and complicated mess that is life. My art making is influenced heavily by folk, outsider, and naïve art and like many of the artists from these backgrounds my search for solid ground in my philosophies and spiritual life are a constant source of inspiration. I translate my life experience through an inward dialogue and use personal symbols to remind myself of the places I have come from and of the places that I must go to next.
